Who we are and how to reach us
familycourt.app is run by Nomis Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17424914, registered office Suite A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, United Kingdom, IP28 7DE. You can reach us at support@familycourt.app, and we aim to reply within two working days.
These terms are the agreement between you and us. By creating an account you accept them. This is version 1.0, dated 21 September 2026.
What this service is, and what it is not
familycourt.app gives you information and tools to help you understand the family court process in England and Wales, organise your case, and prepare your own documents.
We are not a law firm and this is not legal advice. We do not advise you on the law, we do not tell you what to argue, and we do not predict what a court will decide. We do not represent you and we cannot conduct litigation for you.
McKenzie is an AI assistant. It explains how the process works and helps you prepare your own documents. It can make mistakes, so check anything that matters against GOV.UK or the order you have been sent. You are responsible for what you file with the court, and you file it yourself.
A McKenzie friend session is support from a trained person who is not a solicitor and does not give legal advice.
Who can use it
You need to be 18 or over. The service covers family court procedure in England and Wales, and not Scotland or Northern Ireland. Use it for your own case, or for a case you are supporting someone with as a McKenzie friend, with that person's knowledge.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself. An account is for one person. Tell us at support@familycourt.app if you think someone else has used your account. We can suspend an account that is being misused.
What it costs
The platform is £25 a month, [TBD: VAT position]. It is billed in advance and renews every month until you cancel. The first charge is taken when you sign up, and then on the same date each month. Payment is by card, through Stripe.
A McKenzie friend session is £50, paid for separately. Your first month of platform access is included with a session.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time, in Settings. It takes two clicks and there is no one to talk to first. Your access continues until the end of the month you have paid for.
If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment we refund it in full, automatically, to the card you paid with. You do not need to give a reason. This is your right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and the model cancellation form is on our cancellation page if you would rather use it.
When you sign up you ask us to start the service straight away, so you can use it during those 14 days. If you then cancel within the 14 days you still get the full refund.
If the price changes
We will email you at least 30 days before any price change. You can cancel before it takes effect, and if you do, you are never charged the new price.
What you put in
What you write and upload stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it in order to provide the service to you, and for nothing else. We do not use it to train AI models.
Only upload material you have the right to hold. Court documents often contain other people's information, and it is yours to look after as well as ours.
How you may use it
Please do not:
- upload material you are not entitled to hold;
- use the service to harass the other parent, or anyone else;
- scrape or copy the service automatically; or
- try to get McKenzie to give you legal advice or predict an outcome. It will decline, because that is the line this product does not cross.
What we are responsible for
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires. If something is faulty you can ask us to put it right, or ask for a price reduction if we cannot.
We are not responsible for the outcome of your proceedings, or for decisions you take about your case. Those are yours and the court's.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing here affects your statutory rights. [TBD: liability cap (lawyer)].
Availability
We aim to keep the service available all the time, but we sometimes need to take it down for maintenance. Where we can, we will tell you beforehand.
Ending this agreement
You can cancel at any time, as above. We can end it if you break these terms, with notice unless the breach is serious. If the agreement ends, what happens to your information is set out in the privacy notice, and you can export everything before you go.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material we will email you at least 30 days beforehand. Smaller corrections are published here with a new version number and date.
Complaints, law and disputes
If something has gone wrong, tell us first at support@familycourt.app. We will acknowledge it within two working days and answer within ten. How we handle complaints is on the about page.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing here stops you taking a dispute to your local court.
