About

Why FamilyCourt.app exists

Most parents who go to family court go without a solicitor. They are handed a process built for lawyers: forms, directions, bundles, hearings with acronyms nobody explains, at the worst moment of their lives, and told to get on with it.

FamilyCourt.app is built for those parents. It maps your case so you can see where you are and what is coming, answers your questions in plain English, and helps you put your own account into the formats the court expects. It covers England & Wales only, because the process is genuinely different elsewhere and guessing would be worse than saying so.

We are careful about what we claim. McKenzie draws on a curated set of authoritative public sources: legislation.gov.uk, gov.uk, the Family Procedure Rules, court form guidance and CAFCASS materials. It shows you the source behind an answer so you can check it yourself. Where the sources do not cover something, it says so rather than filling the gap.

What it is not: a law firm. It does not give legal advice, does not tell you what to argue, does not predict what a court will decide, and never acts on your behalf. You are the author of your own documents; we help you prepare them. A McKenzie friend is trained to help you prepare and organise, and can be alongside you, but is not a solicitor either.

And it takes no side about the other parent. The court asks what is best for the child, and so do we.
